Understanding Narcissistic Personality Disorder (NPD)

A certain amount of narcissism is healthy. A positive self-image, confidence, believing in the value of one's contributions are all healthy forms of narcissism. It is only when a person's level of narcissism becomes dysfunctional that it is considered a disorder.
"Narcissism" is not a diagnosis.
"Narcissist Personality Disorder" (NPD) is a cluster B personality disorder which lies on the spectrum between Borderline Personality Disorder and Antisocial Personality Disorder (aka Sociopathy) and shares many characteristics with these disorders.
